MFWM Enterprises Strategy & Management Consulting Commonwealth of Massachusetts

Strategy that survives contact with payroll.

A Massachusetts consulting practice for small businesses and early-stage companies — built for owners who answer the phone, sign the checks, and need a plan that holds up on a Tuesday.

I.  The Practice

Four kinds of problem. One way of working.

Most small-business trouble is not mysterious — it is unexamined. We take the four places it usually hides, look hard, and leave you with decisions you can actually execute.

Most owners compete on effort because nobody ever made them choose a position. We narrow the customer, sharpen the offer, and rebuild the price so margin is designed rather than discovered at year-end.

  • Market & competitor read
  • Customer segmentation
  • Offer & pricing architecture
  • Positioning statement
  • Three-year strategic frame
  • Go / no-go on new lines

The bottleneck is usually the owner. We document what only lives in your head, install a management rhythm your team can hold, and put numbers on the wall that someone other than you is accountable for.

  • Process mapping
  • Roles & accountability chart
  • Weekly operating cadence
  • KPI & dashboard design
  • Hiring plan & scorecards
  • Vendor & systems review

Referrals are a wonderful business and a terrible plan. We build a second channel, instrument it end to end, and stop spend that cannot defend its own math.

  • Channel strategy
  • Sales process & pipeline
  • CAC / LTV modeling
  • Retention & repeat design
  • Partnership development
  • Launch planning

Whether the money comes from a bank, an investor, or a buyer, the questions are the same and they are asked quickly. We get the model, the numbers, and the narrative able to withstand them.

  • Financial model build
  • Cash & runway planning
  • Lender / SBA package
  • Investor materials
  • Diligence preparation
  • Succession & exit readiness
II.  Engagements

Three ways to work together.

Every engagement is scoped in writing before it starts, priced at a fixed fee, and ends with something you own — not a slide deck you'll never open again.

The Diagnostic

Start here

Two weeks inside the business. We read the numbers, talk to your people, and come back with a short written finding: what's actually wrong, what it's costing, and the three things worth doing about it.

The Build

Most engagements

A defined project, run to completion. Pricing rebuilt, an operating cadence installed, a financial model that ties, a channel launched — whatever the diagnostic said mattered most, actually built.

The Standing Seat

For growing teams

A fractional seat at your table. Monthly review of the numbers, a hand on hiring and capital decisions, and someone to call before you make the expensive ones — not after.

III.  Approach

House rules.

A young practice earns its reputation one engagement at a time. These are the terms we hold ourselves to, in writing, from the first meeting.

1

The owner stays in charge.

We don't take the wheel and we don't manufacture dependence. The point of an engagement is that it ends, and the business runs better without us.

2

Findings before flattery.

You are paying for a candid read, not agreement. If the plan is wrong, the price is too low, or the hire is a mistake, you'll hear it early and plainly.

3

Small enough to matter.

We take a limited number of clients at a time. You get the person you met, on site, for the length of the work — not a rotating bench.

4

Everything ties to a number.

Recommendations arrive with the arithmetic attached — what it costs, what it returns, and how you'll know within ninety days whether it worked.

IV.  The Commonwealth

We work where we can drive.

MFWM Enterprises is seated in Massachusetts and built for Massachusetts businesses. That is a practical choice, not a sentimental one: the work we do requires being in the building — walking the floor, sitting in on the Monday meeting, meeting the foreman who actually knows why the schedule slips.

It also means we know the terrain. The permitting timelines, the labor market, the seasonal swing that flattens a Cape business in February, the difference between a Route 128 startup's problems and a third-generation shop in the Merrimack Valley.

We are a new firm and we say so plainly. What we bring is operating experience, a narrow client list, and a willingness to be measured on outcomes rather than tenure.

V.  Enquiries

Start with a conversation.

Tell us what the business does and what's keeping you up. The first call is thirty minutes, costs nothing, and either turns into a scoped diagnostic or it doesn't.
